STATEMENT

WWIII (World War III), titled with the ominous foreboding of a third global conflict, is a work that questions collective memory and the dehumanization that accompanies war (of any kind). This piece stands as a time capsule, representing the tension and anxiety that defined the pandemic era. The surgical mask, an omnipresent object during the COVID-19 crisis, takes on a new meaning when placed over the skull: it ceases to be a barrier against a virus and becomes a reminder of mortality and human vulnerability.

The work inquires into the invisible wars we fight: viruses, disinformation, fear; and at the same time represents the struggle for survival in a changing and threatening environment, in which the consequences of our collective actions are often contradictory.
