S.T. Actions
Author: Naivy Pérez
Title: S.T. Actions (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
Year: 2004 – 2005
Genre: Performance
STATEMENT
The work consists of a series of actions that emphasize various aspects of art produced by women, especially since the second half of the 20th century. These performances are reinterpretations of works by other artists, the changes are due to a need for contextualization and temporalization, never in pursuit of originality. As far as I am concerned, I consider this phase of my work only original in the fact that it is not original, and this, however, also lacks authenticity (remember Sherrie Levine); it would then be the copy of the copy, “non-originality squared”. This makes the actions I perform not simple remakes, nor appropriations, nor any kind of banal repetition. I would classify them as a sort of critical monument or analytical homage to feminist art.
