STATEMENT

A Drop of Honey attempts to challenge the conventional perception of torture by fusing the brutality of the suffering inflicted with the mystical symbology of honey. Through a streaming video, viewers will witness my submission to the torture experience known as “Chinese drop”, only honey will fall on my head instead of water.

This work seeks to question the boundaries between suffering and sanctity, between agony and healing. Honey, known for its healing qualities and its association with the divine, becomes a symbolic element that will starkly contrast with the potential physical pain it may cause me.

Furthermore, the use of technology as a resource will recreate a scene of estrangement and dislocation, as the action will seemingly take place nowhere beyond the network.
