Curatorial Statement
>Focused on the artists’ concerns regarding the significance of communication in everyday life, this exhibition aimed to outline an alternative architecture of information flow in contemporary Cuba. ‘x l 2’ explored the work of artists interested in this thematic area and examined the impact of new information media as a gateway for languages and exchanges.
>This perspective involved unprecedented actions and readings aligned with new communication paradigms. It sought to reveal the modes of artistic expression emerging from these media (and the emergent thought of considering them as inclusive media) and to discover how public dynamics of mobilization and/or participation that interact with the social sphere were implemented. The curatorial vision embraced the coexistence of the most diverse artistic languages as long as they contributed to the general thematic line.
>As part of the exhibition at the Fototeca de Cuba, an information hub on art was structured, featuring virtual or physical publications focused on visual arts and their analysis and dissemination. It also included institutional or personal projects that have acted as replicators of information and aggregators of ideas about art.
